City and Borough of Sitka

NOTICE OF ELECTION

A Regular Municipal Election will be held in the City and Borough of Sitka, Alaska on October 2, 2007 Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for casting ballots on the following:

VOTER QUALIFICATIONS: A person may vote in any municipal election who:

1. is at least 18 years old; and
2. has been a resident and registered to vote in the municipality for at least 30 days immediately prior to the election; and
3. is a citizen of the United States; and
4. is qualified to vote in State elections; and
5. is registered to vote in State elections in the precinct in which that person seeks to vote in municipal elections.

ABSENTEE VOTING:

1. Application for an absentee ballot (voting in person) may be made, in writing, with the Municipal Clerk weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. through October 1, 2007.
2. Application for an absentee ballot by mail or fax may be made with the Municipal Clerk.
3. Absentee ballots will be available at the Municipal Office Building, 3rd floor, beginning Monday, September 17, 2007.
4. Qualified voters who are physically disabled may make application for a ballot by personal representative at the office of the Municipal Clerk weekdays (747-1811) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., or at the voting precincts on Election Day.

NOTE: Wheelchair accessible booths are located at each precinct.
