DONATIONS
Memorials and tributes are often accomplished by donating to Animal Shelters. Donations show loving support for animals. Contributions are tax deductible as allowed by law. Mailing address:Attn: Sitka Animal Shelter, 304 Lake St. Sitka, AK. 99835, checks can be made to the Sitka Animal Shelter.
Donations currently are being contributed to an account reserved for the Sitka Animal Shelter building fund in hopes to add a "Visitation Room" on to the excising shelter building. This room will be a small room for prospective adopters to visit with an animal they are interested in. The room will have a carpet and a couple of stuffed chairs in it. There will be a couch and a small countertop to simulate an in-home setting. There people can play and visit with the animal they are interested in. It will be a good common ground area to introduce the new pet to the resident pet that is already in the home. Currently the only area to visit a perspective new animal is in the hallway between the cat room and the dog kennel room. As you can imagine the hallway is busy and noisy.
Any money raised for this endeavor will be restricted to the Sitka Animal Shelter only. The Sitka General Fund will never have access to these funds or any donations made to the Sitka Animal Shelter.

The proposed addition will be about the size of this outside holding kennel. The new Visitation Room will be about 10' x12' and a great completion to an otherwise state of the art Animal Shelter for Sitka and their loving companion animals. |
The Sitka Animal Shelter was completed in 1996. Fundraising began with a small group of women called the Friends of the Sitka Animal Shelter in 1993. Literally half of the funds needed for this building were that of donations.

There is always a need for donations to be used for treatment of sick animals to make them adoptable, for benevolence, lifesaving efforts and the care of the animals at the shelter.
Items always needed:
Bleach, laundry detergent, cat toys, chew bones, leashes, dog collars, Gentle leaders, Halti-leads, large bath towels, hand towels and anything you might think would make an animals stay more comfortable.
Bring items to the Sitka Animal Shelter and leave by office door if no staff is available.
