Harbor Department

The City and Borough of Sitka Harbor Department operates and maintains 5 boat harbors to include Crescent Harbor, Sealing Cove Harbor, ANB Harbor, Thomsen Harbor and Eliason Harbor. We have available a tidal grid, gear work float and a drive down load/unload zone. We have a moorage area at the Port Facility (City Wall) that can handle up to a 300’ vessel. We also have a hoist with a maximum limit of 1,500 lbs.

We moor a lot of commercial fishing vessel, recreation and charter vessels. During the summer we also see a lot of large yachts visit our harbors. You are within walking distant to a grocery store, marine supply store, restaurants and to downtown. We also have restrooms and shower facilities on site above Eliason Harbor.

ANB Harbor Replacement - Project Update

The City and Borough of Sitka has obtained grant funding to assist with the ANB Harbor Replacement Project. Moffatt & Nichol has been awarded a professional services contract for the design and permitting of the project. Moffatt & Nichol worked closely with Harbor Dept. Staff to develop a new conceptual float layout for ANB which was approved by the Port & Harbors Commission on February 11, 2013.

Emergency Notification System

The City of Sitka has contracted with Emergency Communications Network to license its CodeRED high-speed notification solution. The CodeRED system provides the police department dispatch center the ability to quickly deliver messages to targeted areas or the entire borough. Since this is a geographically based system, accurate addresses and phone numbers are required for it to work effectively. The data collected will only be used for emergency notification purposes.
