Municipal Attorney

The Municipal Attorney, Brian E. Hanson, provides legal services to the Assembly and administration in administrative law matters, civil litigation, minor criminal offenses and a variety of public law issues. He does not provide direct legal advice to the public because of the Alaska Rules of Professional Conduct.

He provides legal advice to the Assembly, and drafts ordinances and resolutions. He provides legal advice and assists the departments, drafts and/or revises leases, agreements. He serves as municipal counsel/prosecutor in judicial and administrative proceedings. He also provides legal services for boards, commissions and committees.

The Legal Assistant, Mindy Lowrance, principally addresses reviewal of public records requests, collections and basic drafting of ordinances, and support of all activities of the Municipal Attorney.
