A vacancy will occur on the City and Borough of Sitka Assembly effective June 30, 2026, following the resignation of an Assembly Member. The Assembly formally accepted the resignation at its May 26, 2026 meeting.
In accordance with the Sitka Home Rule Charter and Sitka General Code, the Assembly is required to appoint a qualified individual within 20 days of the vacancy to serve as an Acting Assembly Member until the next regular election. To be eligible for appointment, an individual must be a qualified voter of the municipality and must have been a resident of the municipality for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment.

The appointment is scheduled to be made at the Regular Assembly Meeting on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
