The Mike Motti Award pays tribute to the remarkable legacy of Mike Motti, a revered veteran of Sitka Fire Department Search and Rescue. From his entry into the organization in march of 1983 until his passing in 2022, Mike selflessly served as a search dog handler, medic, and led the incident management team. His impact extended far beyond Sitka, as he traveled to teach trainings and provide assistance wherever needed. Mike's expertise and reputation made him a true icon in his field. This distinguished award recognizes an exceptional department member who, like Mike, has displayed unwavering dedication, mentorship, and humble service in the emergency services.
The recipient of this award shall:
- Be a Sitka Volunteer Fire Department life member
- Exhibit unwavering commitment to the emergency services at large, not necessarily only through the Sitka Fire Department.
