The Municipal Attorney, Brian Hanson, provides legal services to the Assembly and administration in administrative law matters, civil litigation and concerning a variety of public law issues. He does not provide direct legal advice to the public because of Alaska Rules of Professional Conduct.
He provides legal advice to the Assembly, and drafts ordinances and resolutions. He assists the departments, drafts and/or revises leases and agreements, provides legal advice and serves as municipal counsel/prosecutor in judicial and administrative proceedings. He also provides legal services for boards, commissions and committees.
The Legal Assistant, Mindy Lowrance, principally addresses public record requests, collections, basic drafting of ordinances and support of all activities of the Municipal Attorney.
