The City and Borough of Sitka would like to inform the public that construction is underway for the Lake-Hirst and Monastery-Kinkead Utility and Street Improvements Project.
As a part of this work, Lake Street is closed to through-traffic during construction. Halibut Point Road is the official detour, and motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes that avoid Monastery Street whenever possible. Local access will be maintained for residents who live within the construction zone. Traffic control signage is in place to help guide drivers safely through the area. Pedestrians are asked to use caution in the area and follow posted signage and any temporary walkways or detours"
