Road Closures and Parking Restrictions for Independence Day Festivitie

The City and Borough of Sitka advises residents and visitors of temporary road closures and parking restrictions associated with Independence Day festivities.

From July 3 through July 5, Katlian Street will be closed daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. between the Lincoln Street intersection along Totem Square to the pedestrian crosswalk to accommodate holiday activities. The roadway will reopen to through traffic each evening; however, parking will not be permitted within the closure area overnight.

On Saturday, July 4, no parking will be permitted on Lincoln Street beginning at 9:00 a.m., between Lake Street and Harbor Way. Lincoln Street will be closed from College Drive to Harbor Drive to vehicle traffic to accommodate the parade which begins at 1:00 p.m. At approximately 3:00 p.m., the closure will be reduced to the section of Lincoln Street between St. Michael's Cathedral and Harbor Drive to allow for continued downtown festivities. Parking on Lincoln Street from St. Michael’s Cathedral to the Lake Street intersection will resume after the parade. The remaining closure between St. Michael’s Cathedral and Harbor Drive will reopen at 6:00 p.m.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, use alternate routes when possible, and follow all posted signs, barricades, and directions from public safety personnel.
