Fire Division The Fire Division of the Sitka Fire Department consists of approximately 20 active volunteer firefighters. The division responds to an average of 200 calls per year and employs a philosophy of fast, aggressive attacks while maintaining the highest levels of safety. The Sitka Fire Dept. paid staff, staff the station 24 hours a day, when an alarm is received, they respond with appropriate apparatus.
SAR Division The Sitka Fire Department’s Search and Rescue Division is comprised of 100% volunteers. The team has about 40 active members between the Field Team, K9 Team and Incident Management Team (IMT). The team leadership consists of a Captain, IMT Lieutenant, Field Lieutenant, Technical Rope Rescue Unit Leader, and a K9 Unit Leader.
Sitka Dive Team The Sitka Volunteer Fire Department has a Dive Team that responds to any water related emergency in the City and Borough of Sitka. The divers are certified as Public Safety Divers through ACUC and have attended courses through Life Guard Systems (LGS) &Dive Rescue International (DRI).
