Bridge Closure Scheduled on Granite Creek Road

The City and Borough of Sitka Public Works Department advises the public that the bridge to the Overburden Site on Granite Creek Road will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 4 and 5, while crews dig test holes as part of the design process for a new bridge.

Electric Utility Maintenance Scheduled Along Green Lake Road

The City and Borough of Sitka Electric Utility Department utility crews will be performing pole replacement and tree trimming along Green Lake Road between the Gary Paxton Industrial Park and the Medvejie Hatchery beginning Monday, August 3, through Friday, August 14. Work will take place Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Trail Maintenance Scheduled for Week of August 3

The City and Borough of Sitka Public Works Department advises the public that Sitka Trail Works will be performing trail maintenance during the week of August 3. Work will include drainage maintenance along the Cross Trail between the Cascade Creek and Kimsham entrances, as well as maintenance on the Herring Cove Trail.

Jigsaw Puzzle Challenge

Sitka Public Library will host a jigsaw puzzle challenge on Thursday, September 3rd at 5:30 p.m. Teams of up to 4 adults will compete to see who can complete a 500-piece puzzle first. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team. Space is limited and registration is required.

End of Summer Schedule-Preschool Storytime at Sitka Public Library

Sitka Public Library’s Preschool Storytime will be offered on the following Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. at the library’s multipurpose room: July 30, August 6, August 13, August 20, September 10, September 17, and September 24. The program includes readings, rhymes, songs, and a craft project. Everybody is welcome.
