Purpose: Establish a shared vision of Sitka’s energy future to guide energy-related community decisions and shape a roadmap for community and policy actions that advance that shared energy vision.

What is the SCRES?

The Sitka Community Renewable Energy Strategy (SCRES) is a City of and Borough Sitka-led project heavily supported and guided by its Sustainability Commission. The project is grant-funded through the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Technology Innovation Partnership Project (ETIPP). Through ETIPP, CBS is partnered with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) and the Renewable Energy Alaska Project (REAP) to work on SCRES.

Energy Education

Energy experts from the National Labs built an in-depth series of educational modules specific to Sitka that you can explore to learn more so you can make informed decisions about our community's energy future.

Community Engagement

Throughout the SCRES project, surveys, webinars and radio shows were hosted. Many of these engagement opportunities were recorded and integrated into the education pages. The SCRES also included a custom boardgame called Energy Quest: Sitka's Path to 2050!

2023 Sitka Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory
